Ben Ragsdale (804) 330-3959
Chair, 68th Virginia Legislative
The Virginia Democratic Party will hold a primary election to determine its nominee for Virginia House of Delegates District #68 in the November General Election.
The primary election, at regular polling places, will be June 13, 2017, and will be open to all voters in the district.
The official filing period began on March 13 and will end at 5:00 P.M. on March 30. Prospective candidates need to file an appropriate number of petitions for candidacy signed by registered voters in the district, a filing fee of $352.80 (2% of a legislator’s annual salary), and other documents with various Democratic Party and state and local agencies. All forms must be filed by March 30.
The announcement was made by Ben Ragsdale, Chairman of the Virginia 68th Legislative District Nominating Committee, with whom Candidates have to file their declaration of candidacy, receipt for paying their filing fee, and petitions bearing the signatures of at least 125 qualified voters living in the district. He lives at 3821 Custis Road, Richmond, Virginia, 23225. He may be contacted at 804-330-3959 and firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We’re greatly encouraged by the caliber of the three candidates who thus far are seeking this nomination,” said Ragsdale. “We think our chances of unseating the incumbent, Manoli Loupassi, in November are excellent. There is still time for other interested Democrats to do the necessary paperwork and file. We will continue to have a full and friendly discussion of the issues facing Virginia and why we need new representation from the 68th.”
The 68th District is about evenly split between Richmond and Chesterfield. It roughly starts in the Fan District, runs west, grabs three western Henrico precincts, then heads across the river through southwest Richmond to the Salisbury and Smoketree areas of Chesterfield.
